Corpus Christi International Seamen’s Center
Sharon Emerson of the Corpus Christi International Seamen’s Center was also referred to me by John Jagneaux of Corpus Christi Confidential Communications fame. John is a volunteer at both non-profits, USO and Seamen's Center.
At our planning meeting we decided that a CMS would be best. Front page, information and donation cart. They also wanted a web master to update the content as required.
After I finished the fine touches on the USO site, I started working on this one. A basic out of the box Joomla site. At the site launch meeting with the board of directors, it was determined that I add a photo gallery with slideshow capabilities.
The requirements for the design were simple, make it nice looking. I found a nice onion skinned, modern template at RocketTheme and Sharon had a nice photograph of the Port of Corpus Christi that we used as the background. The Seamen’s Center provided an existing logo but it was a very poor quality image. They did not want to pay for me to rebuild the logo so I found a nice anchor for their header and favicon.
